With that said... Session 0: Preparations
Welcome to my experiment of playing PokeyManz SOLO! For those of you who are new to the concept: www.reddit.com/r/Solo_Roleplaying/SOLO Play is when you play a TTRGP with only yourself. There are some games designed to be played SOLO, but pretty much any game can be played SOLO. With that out of the way, let’s get started. First I have to make the character, which is simple enough. I considered min/maxing my character to increase Tactics & Research while dropping Heart and Fitness, but I feel like trying to have an “average” Trainer. Like any good trainer I need a Rival, but since Rival is a minor Hinderance my character needs another hindrance. I’ll take Hypercompetitive to have a narrative excuse to NEVER refuse a Pokémon Battle. Now I get an Edge, so I will pick I Choose You. Personally I think this Edge is OP if not BROKEN. But this is my Starter and having an OP starter is on brand for an Anime Pokémon Trainer. That done, I have my Starting Pokémon Trainer. Meet Jade! Jade
Calling: Future Pokémon Champion! Attributes Heart: d6 Fitness: d6 Research: d6 Tactics: d6 Toughness: 3 XP: 0 Advancements: 0 Edges -I Choose You! Hindrances -Rival(Minor); See “Rival” -Hypercompetitive(Minor); Can not turn down a Pokémon Challenge Backpack: - Money (0) Why Jade? Because I plan to pick Bulbasaur for my Starter, the objectively BEST Starter for Gen 1, and I wanted a name that was Green themed. Best Boy Bulbasaur!
Grass/Poison Toughness: 4 Wounds: 4/4 Mastery: 1/3 XP: 0 Ability: Overgrow (+1 to Grass Moves when at 1 Wound) Moves -Synthesis(Grass): 1d4 [Heal +1 wound, +2 on CRIT. +/- depending on sunlight] -Poison Powder(Poison): 1d4 [Poisons Target] -Leech Seed(Grass): 1d4 [Drains/Heals Toughness] -Vine Whip(Grass): 1d4 [Attacks with Vines] -Growth(Normal): 1d4 [+1 Attack, +2 on Crit] -Take Down(Normal): 1d4+2 [-1 Toughness on hit.] Next I need to stat out Jade’s Rival. I’ll keep them simple as well and not Mix/Max them, giving them d6 in all Attributes. It also just makes things easier on my end. Since I wanted a Green themed name for Jade, I’ll pick a Red themed name for the Rival. I’ll name them Crimson. Crimson
Calling: To Be the Very Best, Like No One Ever Was! Attributes Heart: d6 Fitness: d6 Research: d6 Tactics: d6 Toughness: 3 XP: 0 Advancements Edges -I Choose You! Hindrances -Partnerless(Major) I want them to also have the I Choose You! Edge to balance their Starter against Jade. For a Starter they will have Charmander. Why am I using Gen 1 starters? Because I’m going to be using the Kanto Region and am going to be starting in Pallet Town. I’m not saying I am going to follow the plot of Gen 1, the game doesn’t really have a “Plot”. But I will be using the Map & Routes. bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_routes For possible encounters I plan to MOSTLY use the default Kanto encounters. But I’ll also include some non-Kanto Pokemon. I’ll keep track of what the specific encounters are in a separate Google Document. docs.google.com/document/d/1qEXfXmL8BXILAXyXdfK3nUBMnNOsbhlWLmPQGnayVjU/edit?usp=sharing As for Exploration Rules, I started a Forum Topic and Google Doc to discuss the basic mechanics: pokeymanzttrpg.boards.net/thread/18/exploration-house-rules?page=1&scrollTo=71The short of it is that when entering a wild “ Zone” I will roll on an Encounter Table. After resolving the encounter I can either roll for another encounter or “Roll for Resolution”. The more encounters I have resolved the higher my bonus will be to “ Roll for Resolution”. Since this is a SOLO game, I will need to gather other resources. For Oracles I will mostly be using One Page Solo Engine. If I want to mix it up I’ll use another Oracle that I found which uses Playing Cards. One Page SOLO Engine: inflatablestudios.itch.io/one-page-solo-engine Online: inflatablestudios.itch.io/one-page-solo-engine-online Solo RGP Oracle: oracle-rpg.com/2023/02/the-solo-roleplaying-oracle/As for variant rules I will be using Item Rules and Money, but I won’t be using Capture Chance Rules. If I want something I just have to beat it. With all of my prep work done, my session 0 is complete! Time for the first actual Session!

#s://archives~bulbagarden~net/media/upload/7/7f/Scarlet_Violet_Nemona~png Session 1: Staring the Journey
Jade starts off in Pallet Town, wakes up bright and early, and leaves to talk to the local Pokémon Professor to get her Starter, Pokémon Gear (PokeGear), etc. There she runs into a local boy who has also just gotten his starter, Crimson. Crimson decides that he and Jade are now Rivals. Jade chooses Bulbasaur for her Starter and because Crimson is an old school rival he chooses Charmander. They then have their first Pokémon Battle! Initiative: Jade d6 v Crimson d6; 4 v 3 Jade has Bulbasaur use Poison Powder (d6, d4) 1, 2; FAIL. Crimson has Charmander use Fire Spin (d6+2, d6+2) 7, 6. Bulbasaur down to ¾ wounds. Jade has Bulbasaur try Poison Powder again (d6, d4) 5, 5; success. Crimson has Charmander use Fire Fang (d6+2, d6+2) 7, 5. Bulbasaur down to 2/4 wounds; Fire Spin damages toughness (¾ toughness). Charmander loses 1 Toughness from Poison. Jade has Bulbasaur use Synthesis (d6, d4) 2, 2; spend Master to Re-roll; 7, 1. Bulbasaur Heals 1 wound. ¾. Crimson uses Fire Fang (d6+2, d6+2) 7, 5; Bulbasaur down to 2/4 wounds. (roll fire spin d6, d6; 9, 3). Both take chip damage, both down to 2/4 toughness. Jade has Bulbasaur use Synthesis (d6, d4) 2, 2; fail. Crimson uses Fire Fang (d6+2, d6+2) 8, 1. Since Bulbasaur is down -2 Toughness that is a Crit. Crimson spends Mastery * for +2 Wounds. Bulbasaur Faints. *Crimson has the Partnerless(Major) Hindrance, so they will not regain Mastery until the end of the “Arch”. Since this is a SOLO Game, I am going to rule that the Rival’s Mastery will not reset until Jade earns an Advancement Point (so probably a Gym).
Jade Loses her first Pokémon Battle. Sad, but was honestly to be expected. If she had gotten that first Poison off she MIGHT have won. That said, she goes home, heals up Bulbasaur, and gets ready for her journey. Speaking of home, does Jade’s Family give her any starting supplies? Yes/No [Likely] (1, 1) No, BUT the Professor has something for her. How much does the Professor have? (1d6) 1 Surprisingly lacking. He gives her basic camping equipment and Camping Supplies(1)*. *I’m going to be treating “Camping Supplies” like TENTs from Final Fantasy and other JRPG games; finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Tent Jade is as ready as she will ever be. Saying goodbye to her parents she steps onto Route 1 and starts heading to Viridian City. Route 1(Zone Level 1) Encounter Table Route 1 Encounter Table Dice Value Encounter 00-09 Nothing 10-24 Wild Pokémon Encounter 25-29 Wild Pokémon Guarding Point of Interest 30-39 Unguarded Point of Interest 40-55 Environmental Obstacle/Hazard 56-68 Friendly NPC 69-94 Hostile Pokémon Trainer 95-99 Special Encounter Encounter 1 (68) Friendly NPC; I'll use One Page Solo Engine to make an NPC. *** NPC Generator Identity: [6C] Soldier (physical) Goal: [9D] Enrich Self (technical) Features: [1] Unremarkable Attitude to PCs: [5] More than expected Conversation: [5H] History (social) *** While soldiers aren’t really common in the Pokémon World, Police are. So I’ll say that Jade encounters a Police Officer. He is friendly, asks Jade where she is from and where she is going, and then wishes her a good day. Encounter 2 (29) Wild Pokémon and POI Route 1 Wild Pokémon Table
Roll Encounter 00-23 Rattata 24-54 Pidgey 55-64 Oddish 65-74 Bellsprout 75-79 Pineco 80-84 Poochyene 85-89 Pikachu 90-99 Mankey (49) Pidgey Init: Jade d6 v Wild Pidgey d6; 2, 4. Wild Pidgey uses Gust (d6+2)4; Bulbasaur wounded ¾ left. Bulbasaur uses Take Down (d6+2, d4+2) 3, 4; Pidgey ½ wounds; Bulbasaur takes -1 Toughness. Wild Pidgey uses Gust (d6+2) 15; Bulbasaur 2/4 wounds. Bulbasaur uses Take Down(d6+2, d4+2) 6, 4; Pidgey defeated. Jade decides to catch the Pidgey. Jade has Bulbasaur use Synthesis to heal back up to full 4/4 wounds. Now you know why I picked Bulbasaur as Jade’s Starter! Now for the Point of Interest; I don’t really have anything besides a Loot/Pickup Table *, so Jade will find; (13) Berry; (10) Lum Berry NICE! *If anyone wants to help with a POI table, I started a Forum discussion for my Exploration Rules: pokeymanzttrpg.boards.net/thread/18/exploration-house-rules?page=1&scrollTo=71 Encounter 3 (53) Environmental Obstacle/Hazard. This is only Route 1 which doesn’t have a lot of features. I’ll say there is just a fallen tree in the road ( note to self, I need some kind of Hazard Table). Jade uses Bulbasaur’s Vine Whip to try and move the fallen tree (d6, d4) 5, 3. They do so without any trouble. There have been three encounters so I’ll have Jade to a Resolution Roll since she is guaranteed success. Resolution Table D6 Roll Result 6 Yes, and you gain Momentum 5 Yes, 4 Yes, but you have to fight a Pokémon Trainer 3 No, but you gain +1 Progress Point 2 No 1 No, and you have to Fight a Pokémon Trainer Resolution Roll (d6+3) 8; Jade makes it to Viridian City and gains a Momentum Point ** **For this SOLO Game, I’m going to allow Jade to Bank Momentum Points in between sessions. Jade has successfully reached Viridian City and makes it to the Pokémon Center where she gets a room and rests for the evening. I’m going to consider this the end of Session 1. Jade earned 2 Pokémon XP which she will spend on Bulbasaur to increase his Synthesis and Poison Powder Moves to d6 Since Jade captured a Pidgey it also needs stats. Pidgey (Captured on Route 1)
Normal/Flying Toughness: 4 Wounds: 3/3 Mastery: 0/2 XP: 0 Ability: Big Pecks [Defense can not be lowered] Moves -Air Slash (Flying): 1d4 [Flinch on Crit] -Quick Attack (Normal): 1d4 [Priority Move] -Roost(Flying): 1d6 [Heal +1 Wound, lose Flying Type] -Feather Dance(Flying): 1d6 [Lowers Attack -1, on Crit -2] But with that, I'm going to end Session 1 here because this seems like a good place to end things.

Session 2: Team Rocket in Viridian CityJade has healed her Pokémon up and is now in Viridian City. Now this isn’t a video game, so Jade isn’t going to just go out and GRIND like some kind of crazy person. So that means quest time! I’ll use One Page Solo Engine to figure out what Jade will be up to. ``` Plot Hook Objective: [2] Learn the truth Adversaries: [2] Outlaws Rewards: [2] Money or valuables ``` Learn why something has happened. [Unknown to Jade it was caused by Outlaws; maybe Team Rocket?] ``` Random Event What happens: [4D] Communicate (technical) Involving: [QD] Equipment (technical) ``` The Phones/Internet (Communications Equipment) is broken. ``` Set the Scene Complication: [4] An NPC acts suddenly Altered Scene: [4] Normal ``` So, I need an NPC. Roll [1d10], on a 10 it is Crimson; 3. Someone else. ``` NPC Generator Identity: [ ] Specialist (technical) Goal: [2D] Obtain (technical) Features: [4] Quirk or mannerism - [4H] Old (social) Attitude to PCs: [2] Less than expected Conversation: [2C] Current Need (physical) ``` So, a technician comes into the Pokémon Center asking for assistance. The Internet/Cable/etc is down. He is a Quirky Old Man and needs some help (physical) getting into the room. Jade volunteers to help him because why not. Since the help is physical, I’ll say there is an old rusted door that needs to be busted down. Time for a Take Down! [d6+2, d4+2] 5, 8; Jade kicks the door while Bulbasaur slams into it with Take Down and the door flies open. Jade [Research d6; 1] & the Old Man [d6; 4] explore the tech room. Jade has no idea what she is looking at but the Old Man soon discovers that the equipment has been sabotaged. Quo the Team Rocket Robbery! So, what does the Rocket have?[d6; Rattata 1-2, Ekans 3-4, Zubat 5-6] 6 Zubat! Using Bulbasaur would be a bad idea, so Jade sends out Pidgey! Initiative: Jade d6 v Rocket Grunt d6; 7, 2 Pidgey uses Feather Dance[d6, d6] 5, 4; -1 Attack. Zubat uses Confuse Ray [d6, d6] 2, 1; fail Pidgey uses Air Slash [d6, d4] 1,3; Zubat uses Poison Fang[d6-1, d6-1] 0, 0; EKANS EYES! Can’t use the move again. LOL Pidgey uses Air Slash [d6, d4] 9, 3; Zubat ⅔. Zubat uses Air Slash[d6-1, d6-1]4, 1; Pidgey ⅔. Pidgey uses Air Slash [d6, d4] 3, 2; miss. Zubat uses Air Slash[d6-1, d6-1] 4, 2; Pidgey ⅓. Pidgey uses Roost [d6, d6] 3, 4; heal +1 wound; ⅔. Zubat uses Air Slash[d6-1, d6-1] 0, 0; Ok, now this is just embarrassing, LOL! Pidgey uses Air Slash [d6, d4] 2, 2; miss. Zubat uses Leech Life[d6-3, d6-3] 2, 5; hit! Pidgey ⅓. Pidgey uses Roost [d6, d6] 8, 3; heal +1 wound. Zubat uses Leech Life[d6-1, d6-1] 1, 2. Pidgey uses Air Slash [d6, d4] 2, 2; miss. Zubat uses Leech Life[d6-3, d6-3] -2, -1. Pidgey uses Air Slash [d6, d4] 3, 11. Zubat ⅓ and Flinch! Zubat uses Leech Life[d6-5, d6-5] -4, 0. Pidgey uses Air Slash [d6, d4] 2, 5; Zubat is defeated! The Rocket Grunt runs away! Pidgey uses Roost to heal back up, Jade goes back to the Pokémon Center to see what is going on. The Old Man stays behind to fix the damage Team Rocket Caused. Is Team Rocket still there when Jade gets back? yes/no(Maybe) [1, 5] No. They already committed their robbery and got away. By cutting the cable Team Rocket also disabled the alarm system, so the Cops were not called. Can Jade track them, Pidgey will help (Research d6, d6) 5, 14! Not just spotted but the trail is still hot and is able to find out where their hideout is. Finding the hideout Jade calls the cops, but I’m going to say that she decides to go in and confront the Rocket. Is there more than one? Yes/No(maybe) [2, 4] No. Jade find the one Rocket Grunt and confronts him. What Pokémon does he have? [d6; Rattata 1-2, Ekans 3-4, Zubat 5-6] 3 Ekans Initiative: Jade d6 v Rocket Grunt d6; 4, 17. Ekans uses Coil (d6, d6) 2, 1; fail! Jade’s Pidgey uses Feather Dance (d6, d4) 7, 1; -1 Attack! Ekans uses Acid (d6-1, d6-1) 1, 2; fail. Pidgey uses Air Slash (d6, d4) 7, 2; Ekans ⅔ wounds. Ekans uses Acid (d6-1, d6-1) 2, 10; Spends Mastery for 2 wounds; Big Pecks prevents Defense from dropping. Pidgey ⅓ wounds. Pidgey uses Roost (d6, d6) 10, 5; Crit heal +2. Pidgey 3/3 wounds. Ekans uses Acid (d6-1, d6-1) 0, 0; EKANS EYES! Pidgey uses Air Slash (d6, d4) 4, 1; Ekans ⅓ wounds. Ekans uses Bite (d6-1, d4-1) 1, 0; fail. Pidgey uses Air Slash (d6, d4) 2, 1; fail Ekans uses Bite (d6-1, d4-1) 6, 0; Pidgey ⅔ wounds. Pidgey uses Air Slash (d6, d4) 11, 3. Crit and the Ekans is defeated! Jade pulls out her Bulbasaur and tries to restrain the Rocket Grunt with Vine Whip (d6, d4) 5, 1. Rocket resists with fitness (d6) 5. Roll off (d6, d4) v (d6); 3, 2 v 4; LOOKS LIKE TEAM ROCKET ESCAPES! Still, Jade is alone with the stolen merchandise which she has successfully saved from Team Rocket! The cops show up, Jade gets her picture in the paper, and gets a token reward of (d6) 4 money. I think this is a good place to end the Session. Jade gains +2 Pokémon XP which will be given to Pidgey to increase its Toughness ( the bird earned it). Also, I know Viridian Forest is coming up, so Pidgey is going to get a work out. Jade still has (1) Momentum saved up, and now has a total of 4 money. I’m NOT going to consider this a situation worthy of Advancement, because honestly this was a small encounter. But now Jade knows to be on the lookout for Team Rocket.

Session 3: Training on Route 22
Ok, so I have a question. Can jade challenge the Earth Gym? After all this isn’t the video game or Anime. I have no reason to just ASSUME that the Earth Gym will be the last. So, is it open? Yes/No (Maybe) [2, 2] No. Ok, well that answers that question. Jade doesn’t want to attempt to reach Pewter City at the moment. Because that will require her to go Through Route 2 South, Viridian Forest, and then Route 2 North. In short, it will be a gauntlet. Besides, she only has Two Pokémon. So she will go east on Route 22 to get some training in and maybe catch some new Pokémon, get into a battle with a Trainer, find some stuff, that sort of thing. Route 22 (Zone Rating 1)
First, roll to see if Jade has a Rival Fight (1d10) 4; no. Exploration Dice Value Encounter 00-09 Nothing 10-24 Wild Pokémon Encounter 25-29 Wild Pokémon Guarding Point of Interest 30-39 Unguarded Point of Interest 40-55 Environmental Obstacle/Hazard 56-68 Friendly NPC 69-94 Hostile Pokémon Trainer 95-99 Special Encounter Exploration (42) Environmental Obstacle/Hazard. It is Route 22 and it has some water. She doesn’t really have a way to get around water, and she isn’t actually trying to reach the other side (she is just kind of wandering around), so I’ll call this a mulligan. She will NOT gain a Progress point though.
Exploration (60) Friendly NPC ``` NPC Generator Identity: [JH] Leader (social) Goal: [9S] Enrich Self (mystical) Features: [3] Obvious physical trait - [AS] Unique (mystical) Attitude to PCs: [4] About average Conversation: [8H] Knowledge (social) ``` A “mystical” NPC, I’m thinking they are some kind of type mystical specialist. (1d6; 1-3 hex maniac, 4-6 Psychic) 4 Psychic. They are friendly with Jade and they strike up a conversation. Jade Heart Roll (d6) 11 and that is a CRIT! So, what kind of useful information can Jade get from them? The NPC is trying to Enrich Self (mystical); the mystical tells me that they aren’t after money. I’ll say they are tracking down a rare Pokemon and want to “Enrich” themselves by capturing it. Jade offers to help because she would also like to get a “mystical” Pokemon. They are no longer Exploring, but rather Hunting while being aided by their Pokémon. Jade (d6, d6) Mystic (d6, d6); 1, 16 & 7, 4. Not only do they both succeed but Jade gets a CRITICAL success. So what do they find? [d6] 1 Abra, 2 Meditite, 3 Gothita, 4 Ralts, 5 Flittle, 6 Natu; 1 Abra. Ok, so NOW they need to sneak up on the Abras so that they can get close enough to throw their Pokémon Balls. Jade Fitness d6 & Mystic Fitness d6; 1, 5; I’ll use the saved Momentum from earlier to Re-Roll; 10. They both get themselves an Abra but it cost Jade her Momentum. I’ll consider that a fair trade. The Abra currently doesn’t know any moves beyond Teleport, but that in of itself can be VERY useful. Who needs fly when you can Teleport! Their little adventure done, Jade says goodbye to her Mystical friend and continues to explore Route 22. Exploration (62) Another Friendly NPC ``` NPC Generator Identity: [7S] Merchant (mystical) Goal: [2H] Obtain (social) Features: [6] Unexpected age or origin - [AH] Unique (social) Attitude to PCs: [2] Less than expected Conversation: [8C] Knowledge (physical) ``` A Mystical Merchant that wants to sell Jade stuff. Jade only has 4 money at the moment, but it wouldn’t hurt to take a look. Does he have anything Rare? This IS a “mystical” Merchant after all! Yes/No (Likely) [1, 3] No. They are all out of stock on the really good stuff. LAME! So neat, but Jade doesn’t want anything from them. Says good bye and they go their separate ways. Exploration (73) Hostile Pokémon Trainer. Roll [1d10] for Rival; 9 Not the Rival. Roll 1d10 for Team Rocket; 10 ROCKET! Jade gets into a battle with a Team Rocket Grunt! Is this a 1v1 battle or 2v2 battle? [1d6, 1-3 1v1, 4-6 2v2] 3 the grunt only has the 1. The Grunt has [1d8; 1-2 Rattata, 3-4 Sandshrew, 5-6 Ekans, 7-8 Zubat] 1 Rattata! Initiative: Jade & Bulbasaur d6 v Rocket & Rattata d6; 1, 3 Ratatta uses Tail Whip [d6, d6] 1, 5; -1 defense. Bulbasaur uses Poison Powder[d6, d6] 1, 11; Crit Poison Powder; Toxic Effect, Poison gets stronger -1 toughness(¾). Ratatta uses Quick Attack [d6, d6] 1, 5; hits Bulbasaur ¾ wounds. Bulbasaur uses Vive Whip [d6, d4] 4, 8; Rattatta ⅔ wounds and -2 toughness (¼). Rattata uses Quick attack [d6, d6] 3, 3; due to Tail Whip this still hits. Bulbasaur 2/4 wounds. Bulbasaur uses Synthesis [d6, d6] 4, 2; heals to ¾ wounds; Rattata takes toxic damage, Toughness is 0, Rattatta faints. Jade gets +1 Pokemon XP, & [d6] 5 Money for winning. The Team Rocket Grunt flees. Jade has Bulbasaur use Synthesis to heal himself back up to full 4 out of 4 wounds. She then continues to explore. Explore (24) Wild Pokémon Encounter; [1d10] 1 Rattata. Pokémon Encounters Dice Value Encounter 1-2 Rattata 3-4 Spearow 5 Nidoran(M) 6 Nidoran(F) 7 Poliwag 8 Ponyta 9 Mankey 10 Pinco Init: Jade and Bulbasaur d6 v Wild Rattata d6; 9 v 2. But Rattata uses Quick Attack [d6] 5; Bulbasaur ¾ wounds. Bulbasaur uses Vine Whip [d6, d4] 15, 2; Rattata ½ wounds. Rattata uses Quick Attack again [d6] 5; Bulbasaur 2/4 wounds. Bulbasaur uses Vine Whip [d6, d4] 2, 5; Wild Rattata is defeated. Jade doesn’t want to catch it so she lets it flee. Jade gains +1 Pokemon XP Resolution Check[d6+3] 6; Jade has finished exploring the route and gains +1 Momentum. This seems like the end of a productive day, so Jade will teleport back to the Viridian City Pokémon Center and tell the staff that she ran into a member of Team Rocket. Do the authorities find Jade’s information useful? Yes/No (Maybe) [3, 3] No. Sadly it wasn’t anything the authorities weren’t aware of. I will end the session here, and spend the 2 Pokémon XP Jade has to give the Abra a point of Mastery and spend it to Evolve it into Magic the Kadabra! Magic The Kadabra
Psychic Toughness: 4 Wounds: 3/3 Mastery: 1/2 XP: [2] Mastery (2) Ability: Inner Focus (can’t Flinch) Moves -Teleport (Psychic) 1d6 (Teleports) -Reflect (Psychic) 1d6 (+1 Defense, Stays on Field) -Psychic (Psychic) 1d6 (-1 Defense on Crit) -Recover (Normal) 1d6) (Heal +1 Wounds) I’m feeling a little bit more confident, so next session Jade will buy some supplies and then head off to Pewter City. imgur.com/0cOp1l9

#s://i~imgur~com/gX9E1zr~png So, Jade is feeling more confident having three good Pokémon instead of two. She also has a little bit of money (4). She will buy two Revives which will make her broke, but it is money well spent. She could go back to Route 22, maybe look for a Mankey or Nidoran. But I don’t want to do the same thing for two sessions. So she is going to at least try to reach Pewter City. Besides, with three Pokémon that can heal themselves and Teleport I think Jade has this in the bag. Route 2 (South) Rank 1 Zone
Entering the Zone for the first time. Roll for Rival 10; Rival Fight! Will be a 2v2 Fight.
Init: Jade d6 v Crimson d6; 4 v 2. Jade sends out Kadabra while Crimson sends out Mankey Magic the Kadabra uses Light Screen (d6, d6) 2, 1. Spends Mastery for Re-Roll; 3, 5. Light screen up for +1 Defense. Mankey uses Assurance (d6+2, d6+2) 13, 3. Mankey still has Mastery so +2 wounds. Kadabra uses Recover (d6, d6) 1, 4; heals +1 wound. Mankey uses Assurance (d6+2, d6+2) 7, 7. Kadabra at ⅓ wounds. Kadabra uses Phscyic (d6+2, d6+2) 4, 7; Mankey at ⅔ wounds. Mankey uses Assurance (d6+4, d6+4) 9, 5. Kadabra faints. Jade sends out Pidgey and uses Air Slash (d6+2, d4+2) 10, 5; Spend mastery for 2 wounds. Mankey is defeated. Crimson sends out Charmander and uses Ember (d6,d6) 3, 5; Pidgey ⅔ wounds. Pidgey uses Air Slash (d6, d4) 2, 11. Charmander Flinch(-2 rolls) and ¾ wounds. Charmander uses Ember (d6-2, d6-2) 3, 2. Pidgey uses Air Slash (d6, d4) 8, 2; Charmander 2/4. Charmander uses Ember (d6, d6) 8, 4. Pidgey ⅓ wounds. Pidgey uses Roost (d6, d6) 2, 4, heal +1. Charmander uses Ember (d6, d6) 2, 3. Pidgey uses Air Slash (d6, d4) 2, 3. Charmander uses Ember (d6, d6) 4, 4. Light screen protects. Pidgey uses Air Slash (d6, d4) 2, 2. Charmander uses Ember (d6, d6) 3, 2. Pidgey uses Air Slash (d6, d4) 9, 1. Charmander ¼ wounds. Charmander uses Ember (d6, d6) 4, 2. Light Screen protects. Pidgey uses Air Slash (d6, d4) 7, 1. Charmander is defeated! Jade earns +1 Pokemon XP and [d6] 3 Money. Since she was right on the border between the City and the Route, I’m going to say that she can return back to town, heal up at the Pokemon Center, and THEN start to explore. Now with that out of the way. Encounters Dice Value Encounter 00-09 Nothing 10-24 Wild Pokemon Encounter 25-29 Wild Pokemon Guarding Point of Interest 30-39 Unguarded Point of Interest 40-55 Environmental Obstacle/Hazard 56-68 Friendly NPC 69-94 Hostile Pokemon Trainer 95-99 Special Encounter Encounter Roll (70) Hostile Pokemon Trainer; Roll for Rocket 7. Weedle fainted. Jade gains +1 Pokemon XP and (d6) 1 Money. Finally, after a long grueling gauntlet Jade has FINALLY MADE IT to Pewter City! She is going to go straight to the Pokemon Center and rest up. While she is resting, time to allocate her 8 Pokemon XP! 2 of these go to Pidgey (boosting Air Slash and Quick Attack to d6) because he EARNED IT! Jade will spend on Best Boy Bulbasaur (Triple B!) to increase Vine Whip to a d6 and Toughness to 5. 2 More will be spent on Magic the Kadabra to increase his Toughness to 5. This leaves Jade with 1 leftover Pokemon XP. I’ll save it for now. Another thing to note is that with the Shinx, Caterpie, and Weedle caught, Jade is now up to 6 Pokemon! I don’t know if I will keep the Weedle, Caterpie, or neither, but I’ll probably want to power up the Shinx, at least for Misty. But damn, that was brutal! But at least not that she is in Pewter City the next bit should be easy. Right? RIGHT!? i.imgur.com/wnlZ49E.png

#s://i~imgur~com/gX9E1zr~png Session 5: Team Rocket in Pewter CityOk, so Jade has rested and is about to enjoy her first full day in Pewter City. So, now what? ``` Plot Hook Objective: [1] Eliminate a threat Adversaries: [1] A powerful organization Rewards: [2] Money or valuables ``` This just SCREAMS Team Rocket! ``` Random Event What happens: [JS] Protect (mystical) Involving: [KH] A Faction (social) ``` Protect something from Team Rocket. ``` Set the Scene Complication: [1] Hostile forces oppose you Altered Scene: [1] Normal ``` Again with the Team Rocket! The only hint I have is “mystical”. You know, Jade has run into a lot of mystics, first on Route 22 and then again in Viridian Forest. I feel like she is running into a small cult LOL! Is it the same Mystic from 22? yes/no (Maybe) (3, 1) No BUT she does recognize them from Viridian Forest! Ok, so Team Rocket Grunt is attacking someone. How many Pokémon does the Rocket have? (1d3) 1; What does the Rocket have? [d8;1-2 Rattata, 3-4 Sandshrew, 5-6 Ekans, 7-8 Zubat] Rattata. Init: Jade d6 v Grunt d6; 14, 5. BUT Rattata uses Quick Attack (d6, d6) 1, 1; LOL! Jade & Bulbasaur use Growth (d6, d4) 1, 9; +1 Attack. Rattata uses Quick Attack (d6, d6) 10, 10; Bulbasaur takes a wound (3). Bulbasaur uses Vine Whip (d6+1, d6+1) 4, 3; Rattata wound (2). Rattata uses Quick Attack (d6, d6) 4, 5; Bulbasaur wounds (2). Bulbasaur uses Synthesis (d6, d6) 3, 5; heal (wounds 3). Rattata uses Quick Attack (d6, d6) 4, 2; Bulbasaur has a Toughness of 5. Bulbasaur uses Vine Whip (d6+1, d6+1) 4, 3; Rattata wounds (1). Rattata uses Quick Attack (d6, d6) 5, 2; Bulbasaur wounds (2). Bulbasaur uses Vine Whip (d6+1, d6+1) 2, 6. Rattata defeated. Rocket Defeated, Jade Gains +1 Pokemon XP (2 Banked) and (d6) 3 Money (8). I also rolled “Rewards: [2] Money or valuables”, but I don’t want it to be JUST money. So what else could the reward be? Lets roll on the LOOT Table Loot (42) Berry (1) Oran Berry. Triple B also uses Synthesis to heal back up to full. So, that was a quick adventure. But that raises the question of what the Mystic NPC is doing here? ``` Plot Hook Objective: [6] Save an ally in peril Adversaries: [1] A powerful organization Rewards: [1] Money or valuables ``` Oh, another Mystic has been kidnapped by Team Rocket! Well then, let's go save the Mystic from Team Rocket! I’ll say the Mystic lean led Jade to the hideout since they had just escaped it. How many Rockets are there? (d3) 1; what does the Rocket have? [d8;1-2 Rattata, 3-4 Sandshrew, 5-6 Ekans, 7-8 Zubat] 7 Zubat. Jade & Magic the Kadabra d6 v Rocket & Zubat d6; 17, 2 Magic uses Light Screen (d6+1, d6+1)2, 5; +1 Defense. Zubat uses Supersonic (d6, d6) 5, 5; Magic the Kadabra is confused. Magic uses Psychic (d6+3, d6+3) 7, 7; Zubat wounded (2); confusion check (d2) 1 still confused. Zubat uses Bite (d6+2, d6+2) 3, 19; Crit; spend master for 2 wounds (1) Magic uses Psychic (d6+3, d6+3) 7, 6; (d2) 2 no longer confused. Zubat Wounded (1). Zubat uses Bite (d6+2, d6+2) 3, 6; Magic faints. Not on official battle, so Jade sends out Pidgey. Pidgey uses Air Slash (d6, d6) 2, 3. Zubat uses Supersonic (d6, d6) 3, 1. Pidgey uses Air Slash (d6, d6) 10, 2. Zubat defeated. Can Jade capture the Rocket? Fitness & Trible B Vine Whip (d6, d6) 8, 4 v Rocked Fitness (d6) 1. Jade gets +1 Pokemon XP (Banked 3) and is rewarded (d6) 1 money (9); LAME! Ok, so Jade turns the Team Rocket Member into the authorities, gets thanked by the local police, gets her picture taken again. She is becoming a bit of a celebrity! She will then go heal up at the Pokémon Center, healing Magic up. Jade will buy 3 Camping Supplies (3*2 money) and 2 Revives (2*2 money) leaving her with 1 money left. I feel ready to take on the Pewter City Gym, or to at least try. But I want that to be a whole session itself. So I will end this session here. Jade has 3 Banked Pokemon XP; She will spend 2 to give Pidgey (who I’ve finally picked a name for, Big Bird) to give him a point of Mastery. I’ll spend the last point to bump Triple B’s (Best Boy Bulbasaur) Growth to d6. With that, I’ll end the session and challenge the Pewter City Gym next session. A session that I intend to make a full on Dungeon Crawl!

#s://i~imgur~com/gX9E1zr~png Session 6: The Boulder Badge
Ok, so Jade has made her preparations and is ready to tackle the gym. The question is how to run the Gym challenge? I’m going to visualize it as a mountain climbing challenge, where Jade has to climb up a rock face and reach the top. Since this is the first gym I’ll say she only has to make 4 such checks. If she fails a Fitness check she slides to the side and has to have a 1v1 fight against a trainer with a Geodude and the Type Specialist: Rock edge. With that decided, let’s begin. Jade Fitness aided by Triple B Vine Whip (d6, d6); 5, 3. She makes progress (¼). Fitness (d6, d6) 3, 2; fail. 1v1 Trainer Battle. Init: Jade & Bulbasaur d6 v Trainer & Geodude d6; 5, 8. Geodude uses Rock Blast[Mult-Hit Move, re-roll 1s] (d8, d8) 5, 3; Bulbasaur wounded (3). Bulbasaur uses Vine Whip (d6+2, d6+2) 3, 12; Geodude wounded (2). Geodude uses Rock Blast (d8, d8) 2, 3; miss. Bulbasaur uses Vine Whip (d6+2, d6+2) 1, 1; EKANS eyes; Geodude gains bonus on next attack. Geodude uses Rock Blast (d8+1, d8+1) 8, 6; Bulbasaur wounded (2). Bulbasaur uses Wine Whip (d6+2, d6+2) 7, 3; Geodude wounded (1). Geodude uses Rock Blast (d8, d8) 4, 1; Bulbasaur has Toughness 5. Bulbasaur uses Vine Whip (d6+2, d6+2) 3, 7; Geodude faints. Jade gains +1 Pokemon XP (Banked 1), and (d6) 4 money (5). Triple B uses Synthesis to heal back up to 4. AND I just realized that Triple B should have been getting +4 not +2, but it honestly didn’t make much difference. Jade attempts another Fitness Climb aided by Triple B Vine Whip (d6, d6) 2, 2. Jade has already fought THIS trainer, LOL! (d6, d6) 5, 8; Progress (2/4). Fitness & Vine Whip (d6, d6) 5, 10, CRIT; +2 Progress. Jade Reaches the top and will now fight Brock in a 2v2. Now we all know a Gym Leader would/could realistically be a lot stronger. But to be an appropriate battle I’ll be pretending Brock has lower stats then he would normally have. He will still have the Type Specialist: Rock Edge. Init: Jade d6 v Brock d6; 4, 2. Jade sends out Magic the Kadabra and Brock sends out Geodude Magic uses Light Screen (d6+1, d6+1); 1, 1; bloody hell! Master Re-Roll! 12, 5; Crit! +2 Defense! (total of 7!). Geodude uses Defense Curl (d6, d6) 5, 4; +1 Defense (5). Magic uses Psychic (d6+1, d6+1) 2, 3; fail. Geodude uses Defense Curl (d6, d6) 2, 4; +1 Defense (6). Poison Damage; Geodude Toughness (0); Geodude Faints. Brock Sends out Onyx. Triple B uses Poison Powder (d6, d6) 5, 1; Onyx Poisoned. Jade gains +1 Advancement Point and +1 Pokemon XP (Banked 2). She also gains (2d6; rolling 2 for Gym Battle) 7 money (12). Instead of giving Jade a Technical Machine which she might not want and/or never use, instead Brock gives her a Coupon for 1 Free Move Tutor Lesson at his Gym. Since Brock is the Gym Leader I’ll use GM Fiat to just say that if there is a Rock Move Jade wants any of her Pokemon to know, he can Move Tutor it. Another short session, but I think beating the Gym is a good place to end it. The Advancement point will go to increasing Tactics to d8. The 2 XP will be given to Triple B to increase Leech Seed & Take Down from d4 to d6. Next time, onto Route 3 and then Mount Moon!

Ok, so first thing first, let’s spend some of this money. Jade will buy 2 more revives and 3 more Camping supplies (5*2=10) leaving her with (2) Money left. With that said, time to attempt to get through Route 3. Route 3 (Rank 2) Wild Pokemon

But Route 3 went off with barely a hitch, so let's do this! Roll for Rival (d10) 5; no Rival Mount Moon(Rank 3)

(3) Jade has successfully walked through Diglett cave and is right outside of Vermillion City! She enters the city, heads straight to the Pokemon Center, and rests up. Well, that was a LONG session! I’m going to end it here. But first, the XP! Jade has 6 Pokemon XP which she will put into her new Sandshrew. #s://i~imgur~com/gX9E1zr~png Session 8: A Day at the BeachOk, so Jade is in Vermillion City but she doesn’t want to challenge the Gym Immediately. After all, she is in a cool big city which has a beach! Why NOT go out and have some fun!? Plus, I want to do at least one mission/quest/event/etc before challenging the gym. So, Violet will go to the beach to have some fun. What happens? ``` Plot Hook Objective: [6] Save an ally in peril Adversaries: [4] Local inhabitants Rewards: [2] Money or valuables Random Event What happens: [KC] Transform (physical) Involving: [9H] Rumors (social) Set the Scene Complication: [3] Wouldn't it suck if... Altered Scene: [6] Altered Alteration: [2] The environment is different ``` Wouldn’t it suck if Jade came all this way and she ran into Crimson?! But instead of challenging Jade to a fight, it looks like Crimson is getting harassed by the locals. Jade decides to help because if ANYONE is going to beat her rival it will be HER! Not some randos on the beach! How many of them are there? [d6] 2 Not a lot. But this sounds like a perfect opportunity for a double battle! So Jade & Crimson will lead with Bulbasaur & Charmander, but what should the trainers lead with? I’m thinking an electric(for the gym) and a water(for the beach) type. Pikachu & Staryu sound good. Initiative: Jade d8 & Crimson d8 v Trainer A d6 & Trainer B d6! 3 & 4 v 13 & 2; Order is A, Crimson, Jade, B. A has Pikachu use Light Screen (d6, d6) 21, 2; CRIT! Both Mons get +1 Defense (5). Crimson has Charmander use Fire Spin on Pikachu (d8, d6) 6, 1; Trapped in Fire. Jade uses Leech Seed on Staryu (d8, d6) 3, 3; Mastery Re-Roll 7, 2. Staryu Uses Brine on Charmander (d6+2, d6+2). 6, 4; Charmander (3). Pikachu Chip Damage -1 Toughness. Staryu Leech Damage -1 Toughness. Pikachu Uses Thundershock on Charmander (d6, d6) 4, 11; Crit! 2 Damage (1) & Paralyzed. Charmander uses Dragon Breath (d8, d6) 12, 4; Damage & Paralyzed (2). Triple B uses Vine Whip on Staryu (d8+2, d6+2) 10, 3; Staryu wounded (2). Staryu uses Brine on Charmander (d6+2, d6+2) 4, 5; Charmander faints. Crimson sends out Mankey. Fire Spin damage on Pikachu (2), Leech chip damage on Staryu (2). Pikachu uses Thundershock on Mankey (d6, d6) 2, 5; Mankey wounded (2). Mankey uses Assurance (d8+2, d6+2) on Staryu 7, 5; Staryu wounded (1). Triple B uses Wine Whip on Staryu (d8+2, d6+2) 4, 7; Staryu faints. Pikachu Fire Spin (1). What should the trainer send out? Diglett are in the area so he will send out a Diglett. Pikachu uses Thundershock on Mankey (d6, d6); 4, 5; Mankey wounded (1). Mankey uses Assurance on Diglett (d8+2, d6+2) 7, 3; Diglett wounded (2). Triple B uses Vine Whip (d8+2, d6+2) 9, 9; Diglett wounded (1). Diglett uses Magnitude on Mankey (d6, d6) 2, 3; fail. Fire Spin Chip Damage; Pikachu faints. Trainer A sends out Rattata. Rattata uses Bite on Triple B (d6, d6) 3, 2; miss. Mankey uses Low Kick on Rattata (d8+2, d6+2) 6, 5; Rattata wounded (2). Triple B uses Vine Whip on Diglett (d8+2, d6+2) 8, 4; Diglett faints. Rattata uses Bite on Triple B (d6, d6) 5, 2; Triple B wounded (3). Mankey uses Low Kick on Rattata (d8+2, d6+2) 15, 2; flinch and wounded (1). Triple B uses Vine Whip on Rattata (d8, d6) 2, 3; fail. Rattata uses Bite on Triple B (d6-2, d6-2) 0, 3; fail. Mankey uses Low Kick on Rattata (d8+2, d6+2) 15, 5; Rattata faints. Jade & Crimson win! Jade earns (d6) 3 Money (13) and earns +1 Pokemon XP (1) Well, that was interesting. Crimson thanks Jade for her help. Sadly they can’t battle because Crimson is low on Pokemon. Jade and her Pokemon then have a fun beach day, but she will look for a water Pokemon while at the beach. So, what will/can Jade find? I’ll pick 8 Pokemon and roll a 1d8 1Magikarp, 2Poliwag, 3Tentacool, 4Shellder, 5Horsea, 6Staryu, 7Psyduck, 8Chinchou 5: Horsea; jade finds a wild Horsea! Init: Jade d8 v Horsea d6; 7 v 2 Triple B uses Vine Whip (d8+2, d6+2) 4, 5; Horsea wounded (1). Horsea uses Dragon Breath (d4) 2,fail. Triple B uses Wine Whip (d8+2, d6+2) 5, 3; Horsea defeated. Jade gainst +1 Pokemon XP (2) and catches a Horsea! So, Horsea has 3 possible abilities, 2 of which kind of suck in PokeyManz; Swift Swim and Damp. Sniper which powers up Critical Hits, seems like it could be OP. Because what I’m immediately thinking is that it would make the Critical Hits automatically do more damage without having to spend Mastery! Jade will add it to the party because she needs something to fight Crimson’s Charmander. Hilda the Horsea
Water Toughness: 4 Wounds: 3/3 Mastery: 0/2 XP: 0 Ability: Sniper [Critical Hits Automatically do Extra Damage] Moves -Water Pulse(Water): 1d6 [Confusion on Crit] -Dragon Breath(Dragon): 1d4-1 [Paralyze on Crit] -Dragon Dance(Dragon): 1dx [+1 Attack, +1 Speed on Crit] -Leer(Normal): 1d4-1 [Lowers Defense] But with that said, I’ll end the session here. Jade will spend the 2 XP on Sandy to give her a point of Mastery. With that I feel like Jade is ready to take on the Electric Gym!

#s://i~imgur~com/gX9E1zr~png Session 9: Viridian City Gym
Ok, Jade is all rested up and is feeling confident. She wants to try her luck at the Gym. Session 10. Although she will buy 6 Super Potions (2 Money each, leaving her with 1 money) Before Jade can challenge the Gym she needs to get through the challenge. So what kind of Gym Challenge to have for the electric Gym. A gym hosted by a war veteran that uses Electric Pokemon. Why am I thinking of Laser Tag?! No, not Laser Tag, ELECTRIC TAG! Jade and the other challengers have to win a game of Pokemon Laser Tag against the defenders. I’m not going to roll for every single person. But I’ll roll for Jade to see if she wins the contest. Since this is “Laser Tag” Jade has to use her electric Pokemon. It will be 4 rounds. Jade and Sam use Charge (d8, d6) 7, 8; success. +2 to next electric move Jade and Sam use Discharge (d8+2, d6+2) 6, 7; success. Jade and Sam use Thunder Wave (d8, d6) 13, 11; double crit! +2 successes! Jade and Sam use Bite (d8, d6) 7, 5. Success! Jade DOMINATES the game of Laser Tag! Her new Gym Badge in hand, Jade will head over to the Pokemon Center and rest up before the next step on her journey. I’ll end the session here though. Jade will save the 1 Pokemon XP that she has, but spend her advancement point to increase her Research to d8.

Ok, Jade will next travel north to eventually reach Celadon City and Challenge the Water Gym. Which will require her to travel through Route 6, through Saffron City, and then Route 5. Zubat defeated. Jade gains +1 Pokemon XP (3), no victory money since it wasn’t a clean sweep. But the person saved does reward Jade. Loot (09) Berry (9) Persim(Confusion) Exploration (17) Wild Pokemon (88) Magnemite I’ve just realized that with Sandy fainted, Jade is completely walled by Steel Types! Jade has Magic use Teleport to escape (d8+1, d6+1) 3, 5. She escapes, but since she didn’t “win” she doesn’t gain a Progress or XP point. Exploration (49) Environmental Obstacle/Hazard. I mean, Magic is already out. Teleport around (d8+1, d6+1) 4, 3. They simply Teleport past. Resolution Roll (d6+3) 4; Success, but Jade has to challenge a trainer (28) Oddish and Mankey. Initiative: Jade d8 v Trainer d6; 7 v 3; jade sends out Magic the Kadabra Magic uses Light Screen (d8+1, d6+1) 5, 8; +1 Defense; 5 rounds. Oddish uses Poison Powder (d6, d6) 4, 3; Magic Poisoned. Jade gains +1 Pokemon XP (4) and (d6) 2 Money (7). Jade has entered Saffron City, heads to the Pokemon Center, and takes a quick rest. She could head straight to Celadon City. But I feel like that would be doing Celadon a disservice. So… ``` Plot Hook Objective: [3] Recover something valuable Adversaries: [5] Enemy horde or force Rewards: [3] Knowledge and secrets Set the Scene Complication: [5] All is not as it seems Altered Scene: [6] Altered Alteration: [4] Add a Scene Complication Complication: [6] Things actually go as planned Random Event What happens: [9H] Command (social) Involving: [9S] Rumors (mystical) ``` This seems pretty straightforward to me. A Pokemon Swarm (Horde) has stolen something valuable. Or at least what they think is valuable. I’m thinking a Swarm of Meowths. Rule wise I’ll treat it as a “boss” Meowth; basically a Meowth with some extra Wounds. Meowth Swarm! Normal Toughness: 5 Wounds 5/5 Ability: Pick Up Moves -Pay Day(Normal): 1d6 [creates 1 money on a crit] -Bite (Dark): 1d4 [Flinch on a Crit] -Screech (Normal): 1d6 [Lowers Defense] -Play Rough (Fairy): 1d4 [lowers attack on crit] Jade v Meowth Swarm; Initiative: Jade d8 v Meowth d6; 6 v 5. The Meowth Swarm has been defeated, Jade gets +1 Pokemon XP (5) and is rewarded with LOOT (43) Berry (4) Cheri(Heal Paralyzis)4 With that, Jade will rest back up at the Pokemon Center, and then North through Route 5 to Celadon. Jade wins +1 (6) Pokemon XP and wins (d6) 6 money (13). Exploration (99) Special Encounter: Four of Hearts; Guards on Duty. Jade encounters Guards who are blocking her path. They tell her that she has to turn around. Now Jade could Teleport around, but this is getting suspicious. First Mount Moon and now the Route 5 itself? Something is a foot! But that means that Jade will have to go around the long way. After challenging the other gyms & fighting Dojo of course. With that she will Teleport back to Saffron (d8, d6) 2, 1; but have one more Encounter Roll Exploration (35) Unguarded POI. Loot (48) Berry (6) Pecha(Poison)6. Jade has returned to Saffron and goes to the Pokemon Center to plan her next move. I’ll end the session here and spend 4 XP (Banked 2) to give Sam +1 Mastery and +1 Toughness.

#s://i~imgur~com/gX9E1zr~png Session 11: The Fighting Dojo Ok, so Jade wasn’t able to make it to Celadon. So what now? Guess She will just challenge the Fighting Dojo. bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Fighting_DojoOk, so looking at the Dojo, everyone except the master has a mixture of Machops & Mankey. I don’t like the idea of a trainer having multiples of the same Pokémon and I don’t feel like giving them evolved Pokémon. I also don’t want to just do multiple fights of the same thing over and over again. It also sounds like a cheap way to “grind” for XP. So Jade vs Black Belt in a 2v2 battle, the Black Belt will have a Machop and a Mankey Initiative: Jade d8 v Black Belt d6; 3 v 5; Jade leads with Magic and Black Belt leads with Machop Machop uses Knock Off [d6+4, d4+4] 6, 9; Magic wounded (2) and loses item. Magic uses Light Screen (d8, d6) 1, 4; +1 Defense. Machop uses Knock Off (d6+2, d4+2) 6, 4; Magic wounded (1). Magic uses Psychic (d8+2, d6+2) 8, 4; Machop wounded (2). Light screen timer (4). Machop uses Knock Off (d6+2, d4+2) 5, 4; with light screen Defense 6, miss. Magic uses Psychic (d8+2, d6+2) 13, 13; crit -1 Defense! Machop wounded (1). Machop uses Knock Off (d6+2, d4+2) 4, 4; miss. Magic uses Psychic (d8+2, d6+2) 2, 5; Machop faints. Black Belt sends out Mankey. Light Screen Timer (2) Mankey uses Assurance (d6+2, d4+2) 6, 3; Magic faints, Jade sends out Big Bird. Light Screen Timer (1) Mankey uses Assurance (d6, d4) 2, 3; miss. Big Bird uses Air Slash (d8+2, d6+2) 14, 5; crit! Flinch! Mankey wounded (2). Light Screen timer (0) Mankey uses Assurance (d6, d4) 4, 7; Big Bird wounded (2). Big Bird uses Air Slash (d8+2, d6+2) 6, 5; Mankey wounded (1). Mankey uses Assurance (d6, d4) 7, 5; Big Bird wounded (1). Big Bird uses Air Slash (d8+2, +6) 6, 7; Mankey faints. Jade gains +1 XP (3) and (d6) 3 money (16). If jade wants to continue the challenge she has to stay in the building, so she can’t leave to spam the Pokémon Center. So she will use a Revive (2) on Magic who will use Recover to heal himself back up to full. Jade vs Koichi! 2v2 bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/KoichiInitiative: Jade d8 v d6; 14 v 4. Jade leads with Magic and Koichi leads with Hitmonlee Magic uses Light Screen (d8+1, d6+1) 10, 4; Crit! 8 rounds instead of 5; +1 Defense!. Hitmonlee uses High Jump Kick (d6, d8)5, 4; fail! Recoil -1 Toughness (4). Lightscreen (7) Magic uses Psychic (d8+3, d6+3) 6, 3; Hitmonlee Wounded (2). Hitmonlee uses High Jump Kick (d6, d8) 2, 7; hit. Magic wounded (2). Lightscreen (6) Magic uses Psychic (d8+3, d6+3) 5, 7; Hitmonlee wounded (1). Hitmonlee uses High Jump Kick (d6, d8) 2, 7; Magic Wounded (1). Light Screen (5) Magic uses Psychic (d8+3, d6+3) 7, 10; Hitmonlee faints. Koichi sends out Hitmonchan. Light Screen (4) Magic uses Psychic (d8+3, d6+3) 8, 11; Crit! Hitmonchan -1 Defense (4), spand Mastery for 2 wounds (1). Hitmonchan uses Fire Punch (d6, d6) 3, 4; miss. Light Screen (4). Magic uses Psychic (d8+3, d6+3) 8, 4; Hitmonchan faints. Jade gains +1 Pokemon XP (4) and (d6) 3 Money (19) and gets a Tyrogue since the Dojo can’t give out Badges. Thinking about what to do next, Jade thinks she will take on the Psychic Gym. Yes, she doesn’t have anything particularly strong against Psychics. BUT she also only has 1 Pokémon that is weak to them either. With that in mind, she will spend 1 XP to increase Sam the Shinx’s Bite from a d6 to a d8 (banked XP 3). With 3 XP Jade can increase Someone’s Toughness from 5 to 6, But who? I think it has to be Big Bird, the Pidgey has been insanely useful this game! Big Bird gets +1 Toughness (6) leaving Jade with 0 Banked XP. Next time, the Psychic Gym!

#s://i~imgur~com/gX9E1zr~png Session 12: Saffron City Gym
Ok, before she challenges the Gym Jade will buy a LOT of healing supplies. She has 19 money so she can get a bunch of stuff. She will by 5 revives (5*2=10 money), leaving her with 9 money. She will buy 4 super potions (2*4=8+ and 1 regular potion (1*1). This will spend all of her money, but her healing supplies will be: -Revives (8) -Potion (2) -Full Heal (1) -Super Potion (10) -Cheri(Paralysis) -Oran(Heal +1) -Persim(Confusion) -Pecha(Poison)6 I don’t really want to do the normal Teleportation Circles for the Saffron City Gym, but I still want to do a maze. I’m thinking a Fun House Mirror Maze. I’ll use a Hex Flower Dungeon to design it. The basics is pretty simple, when Jade wants to move to the next room she has to roll a Search/Spot Check. So a Research Check. If she succeeds she can go to which ever room she wants. If she fails I roll a d6 to randomly determine which room she goes to. oracle-rpg.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Hex-Flower-19_Stream-1024x1024.png The basics of it is simple enough. Each room is numbered, so that if I go back into a space with the same # I already know what is there. But the first time I enter a room I have to roll for an encounter. Which reminds me, I need encounters… Dice Roll Encounter 1-2 Nothing 3-4 Exeggcute & slowpoke 5-6 Mr. Mime & Jynx 7-8 Drowzee & Kadabra That seems good. With that all decided lets get started. Entrance (room 1) 1d8: 2; nothing. Research to pick the right path (d8, d6) 13, 3; Crit! I’ll say that she succeeds that she doesn’t need to roll the next check. That said Jade walks into Room 4.
Room 4 Encounter Roll 1d8; 5: Mr. Mime & Jynx. Initiative: Jade d8 v Psychic Specialist d6: 4 v 2. Jade Sends out Sam the Shinx. Sam uses Charge (d8+1, d6+1) 6, 4; +1 defense (9 defense maxed) and +2 to next electric attack. Kadabra uses Psychic (d10, d10) 3, 1; fail. Sam uses Discharge (d8+3, d6+3) 5, 7; Kadabra wounded (2). Kadabra uses Psychic (d10, d10) 1, 2; fail. Sam uses Bith (d8+2, d8+2) 13; crit! Spend Mastery for 2 wounds! Kadabra fainst! Jade gains +1 XP (4), +1 Advancement Points (1), (2d6) 9 Money (14), and is given a Coupon for 1 free Move Tutor Session at the Psychic Gym. I WAS going to spend the Advancement Point on Research, but I just realized that it was already at a d8. Jade hasn't been using Heart or fitness that much, so she will increase Tactics (d10). I’m not sure what to spend the XP on, I plan to take on Erika next, so I will once again need Big Bird! So maybe spend all 4 of the points to bump its moves from d6 to d8? But Sam’s Charge+Discharge abuse has shown to be POWERFUL! So maybe increase Sam’s toughness and the dice for Charge? I’ll decide later. i.imgur.com/C9ZsBDk.png
