You must be reading my mind, because I've been doing a deep dive this weekend on Exploration & Hex Crawling. I do have my own Exploration document that I've been working on. With that in mind I'll throw a few recommendations/resources that I've found.

! With that said, here is my starting advice for anyone trying to dip their toes into this topic.
1) Get yourself a blank hex map and number it.
2) Figure out how you are going to determine random terrain. For this instruction I'll keep it really simple.
1-2 Grasslands, 3-4 Hills, 5 Forests, 6 Mountains
3) Roll and fill in the terrain. After a few rolls I ended up with something like this.
I ended up with a LOT of Hills, some grasslands, a bit of forest, and some mountains.
4) Determine Points of Interests in each Hex. Using PIKA's document I'll roll on the "
Is there a Secret" Table and fill out the map. A few rolls later I ended up with.
The Gold coins are "Super Rare Item", the cherries are "Food Trove", the little houses are "A Secret Base Location", the Dragon is a "a very rare or elusive Pokémon" and the cave is a "short cut".
5) Start exploring and have fun!
But it really was that easy and quick. It took me longer to type this out then it did to make the map!
Now go out there and go on an Expedition!
